Recently we took a trip with some good friends, John David and Meghan. We went to Greenwood, MS. This is where the guys go duck hunting on some of John David's family's land. So John David and Meghan wanted to make this trip their "baby moon" since they will be welcoming Jack into the world early March! It was nice for Russell and I to take a trip and getaway!
We left on Sunday and came back on Tuesday. We stayed in Downtown Greenwood at The Alluvian hotel. It was very nice, but not the normal hotel the guys stay in when they go hunting by themselves!
On Sunday night we went to The Viking Cooking School. It is a cooking class where we actually learn how to cook the meal and then we get to enjoy it. They have all the recipes printed so that you can take them with you. We WILL be cooking this again. It was delicious!
The menu was Cajun and Creole Cooking:
Chicken and Andouille Gumbo with white rice
Cajun Pickled Shrimp
Blackened Pork Tenderloin with Creole Mustard Sauce
Sweet Potato Biscuits
Homemade Praline Ice Cream
Our instructor for the class, Beth.
Pickled Shrimp Boil
The roux for the gumbo. Russell did an excellent job on this.

Sweet Potato Biscuits and Mustard Sauce

On Monday morning, the guys got up and went Duck hunting and me and Meghan walked around and went to some of the local shops.
Turn Row Books
The guys came back in town just in time for lunch and we ate at a place called Delta Bistro...very good!
After lunch we had to make trip out to the farm to take care of some things, like John David's dog that had been sprayed by a skunk that morning and the guys wanted to show us around the "Delta". It was a rainy foggy day but we got to see it.
On the way to the farm we drove by some famous houses! The movie "The Help" was filmed in Greenwood.
This one is Skeeters house.
This is Hillie Holbrooks house, the one that had all the toilets in the front yard.
This was Puddin getting her "skunk off" bath.
Here are a few pictures of their hunting adventures.
Of course on Monday night we went to a local restaurant, Websters, to watch the BCS game! RTR
On Tuesday, Me and Meghan got up and went to the Alluvian Spa for a mani/pedi! Us girls have to be treated too!
Then before we got on the road to head back home we stopped to eat at another local place called Crystal Grill....I am so glad that we decided to stop there because it is one of the best places we have ever eaten! This is also one of Russell's favorite pictures because I got the geese in the background flying by!
It was a great getaway and we had a great time with the Chams!
Such a wonderful trip! I vote it's a yearly tradition for the Wells & Chams families!!! So much fun! Even Pud getting skunked didn't dampen the trip! Love you guys!
